Absences

Attendance at school is compulsory. Attendances are recorded twice daily. Parents need to inform the school by letter or verbally about their children's absences.

Punctuality

Please make sure your child arrives on time for school. Being late can often upset your child and cause disruption to classroom programs. Records of late arrival are noted and maintained along with those for absences.

Assembly

The Grade Prep to 2 school assembly is held each Friday at 2:45pm.  The Grade 3 - 6 assembly is held at 11:30am. All parents and friends are welcome. The assembly has special awards for the children. Achievement awards from our You Can Do It foundations, Sports results and so on.  Important information about the daily events of the school are also discussed at assembly.

Booklists

School Council approves an annual booklist charge each year. This charge includes the costs of all books, stationary items etc children may need for the academic year. Parents who are in receipt of the Education Maintenance Allowance will be advised of how payment can be made through this allowance. 

Camps and Excursions

Excursions are an integral and essential part of the school program and may be offered from Grade Prep to 6.  Teachers try and organise a minimum of two excursions per year.  The Prep - Two children undertake water familiarisation/ swimming lessons in fourth term each year.  Grade 3 / 4 children undertake Bike Education in term 3 and Grade 5 / 6 children have a school camp each year.  All excursions and camps are optional to attend. 

Canteen

Roxburgh Park Primary School has a canteen that operates on each day of the week at recess and lunchtime.  Canteen lists can be obtained from the school office.

Emergency Procedures

Roxburgh Park Primary School has an emergency evacuation plan in the event of an emergency.  These emergency procedures are practiced each term.

Lunch / Play lunch arrangements

Children eat lunches in their classrooms from 10.50 am - 11.00 am.

Children eat play lunch in their classroom from 1:15 pm - 1.30 pm.

Newsletters

Newsletters are sent home each Thursday. Additional copies can be obtained from the office.

Out of School Hours Program

Roxburgh Park Primary School has a Before and After School Care Program. (Refer to Special Programs).

Parent Participation

Parents are encouraged to assist with a variety of school activities. (Arrangements can be made with the classroom teacher or through the office).  Toddlers and small children are not permitted to be in the classroom when parents are assisting (as this can cause a distraction to the other children).

Parent and Teacher Communication

It is important that teachers and parents communicate concerning children's progress. Formal interviews are arranged during the year. Teachers are happy to talk to parents informally at any time throughout the year. Written reports are sent home twice a year for all students. (Refer to Systems view for additional information on Assessment and Reporting).

Playground Supervision

Playground supervision by teachers begins at 8.45 am before school, and from 3.05 pm - 3.20 pm after school. Teachers are on duty at all recess and lunch times.

Religious Education

Religious education is currently not offered at Roxburgh Park Primary School. 

School Council

This body meets 8 times per year and plays an important part in the overall planning and administration of the school (Refer to Systems view for additional information on School Council).

School Uniform

Roxburgh Park has an official uniform. It is compulsory for students to wear the uniform, which is red and blue.

Transition

Pre school transition and secondary transition programs operate throughout the school year to help pre school children and Year 6 students in their transition from one setting to another.

Treatment of sick or injured children

If children are sick or injured at school we endeavour to take the best possible care. We have a well equipped sick bay in the administration building. We have a level 3 First Aid staff member who is in charge of the sick bay on a full time basis.
